Michelle has been working with children since she was 16 years old. She began volunteering as a leader at children’s camps and as a choreographer and director for a children’s drama group. After completing her Journalism degree in Johannesburg, Michelle was given the opportunity to teach at the primary school where she herself attended. Her love for children and education grew as she taught in both public and private schools.

Several years later, after taking a break to be at home with her three sons, Michelle returned to teaching and earned her Post Graduate Certificate in Education.

Michelle, her husband and three sons moved to Ireland in 2021. In an unexpected turn of events, while planning to homeschool using the Steiner curriculum, Michelle was employed as a teacher at a Steiner school while completing the three year certication with SWIM.

Having taught in mainstream schools, Michelle believes that the rich curriculum and wisdom of Steiner’s pedagogy is the true heartbeat of education and she is thrilled to join the Dublin Steiner team as a Class One teacher.
