Ciara Donohoe

Assistant Kindergarten Teacher

BA Early Childhood Studies

From North County Dublin, Ciara has worked in early years education for 10 years. She has worked in a variety of settings including creches and an ASD preschool. She has worked with a wide range of ages from 6 months to 11 years both in caring, educational and managerial roles. She recently completed a BA Honours degree in Early Childhood Studies. The subject of her final research project was related to inclusion within early years settings.

Ciara has a passion for teaching through music and singing. She spent four years teaching English as a second language in Madrid, Spain both in an academy and a preschool setting. During this time, she saw the value of implementing song and dance into teaching in a way that sparks interests and true enjoyment in her students. She conducted classes for small children and babies, teaching language through the use of puppetry and interactive, dynamic activities and games.

Ciara has a special interest in inclusive education and practices in the classroom. She has over 2 years’ experience working closely with children with additional needs. During this time Ciara dedicated herself to ensuring that the children in her care felt included, heard and stimulated during their learning in a way that was meaningful to them as individuals and as part of a group.

Ciara loves messy, sensory play and enjoys watching children develop their skills and personalities through imaginative play. Through this interest Ciara found herself eager to develop her knowledge of the Waldorf method. She believes that it is crucial for children to learn and develop within an environment that fosters imagination and is a safe place for children to express themselves and their ever-expanding interests and needs.

In her free time, Ciara enjoys going to the gym, reading and travelling. She also enjoys hiking with friends and being in nature.
